Your Local Connection

Despite a booming tourism industry, Siem Reap province remains one of the poorest in Cambodia with negligible amounts of economic prosperity reaching those in the countryside. Jasmine Lodge has attempted to rectify this where possible with its ‘pro-poor’ employment, tour and food policies. Kunn employs eight permanent members of staff (6 general, 1cook and 1 laundry) and all have been recruited from villages outside of Siem Reap (Kunn: “Tourism does not reach there”). All eight employees receive accommodation and training, and can go to school locally. They also receive $40 per month in salary. These staff benefit from on-the-job English language training, through interaction with guests, as they go along.

Floating forest or Kampong phluk village tour

More memorable than Chong knease village but also much harder to go, is the flooded forest also people living in kampong Phluk cut those forest to burn for cooking food and their house is stilted built within the Floodplain of the Tonle sap about 16km south east of Siem reap .
Tourists can puddle in small boat inside floating forest and around the village in a couple and with cold beers will be colder in the jungle and hammouck relaxing . There are 2 ways to get to Kampong Pluck. One is to come via the floating vllage by boat from chong kneas nearly whole day trip by boat
And the other is come via the small town of Rolous group on the highway 6 pass through Lolei temple down one small road on the right side through the really nice local market a long the river on the damp with rice paddy and bamboo house made from palm leaves and bamboo just higher from the ground in traditional and culture of Cambodia , all the house have to make higher from the ground because in rumor of people said that lose the age like 90 years old will die but left only 60 like that also in Cambodia are flooded and most of people popular to stay downstairs in the day and put something’s under the house so that is why we made house higher and the best time to see kompong pluck only from November to March and afterwards is really hard to go because in dry season it is dirty and bumpy, water is low but good time to see short term of rice people make damp and save water for doing it with green plants too and more expensive so please do quotation with our tour I will provide you in reasonable Price and good service.
The way of students going to school on boat and a little- tub in during of rainy season and dry season they will pakcage rice to eat at school not return home untill evening because the school is floating and water flow down that is why school have to move following the water.
