Your Local Connection

Despite a booming tourism industry, Siem Reap province remains one of the poorest in Cambodia with negligible amounts of economic prosperity reaching those in the countryside. Jasmine Lodge has attempted to rectify this where possible with its ‘pro-poor’ employment, tour and food policies. Kunn employs eight permanent members of staff (6 general, 1cook and 1 laundry) and all have been recruited from villages outside of Siem Reap (Kunn: “Tourism does not reach there”). All eight employees receive accommodation and training, and can go to school locally. They also receive $40 per month in salary. These staff benefit from on-the-job English language training, through interaction with guests, as they go along.

I spent three months at Jasmine Lodge and enjoyed every moment: excellent food, clean, comfortable and inexpensive rooms and obliging, keen staff with a generous sense of humour. The staff make the place special. It was like staying with friends.

I have stayed in Jasmine Lodge for 7 weeks now and I could not recommend it with more conviction. During my stay I have felt not like a guest but a part of the family and have been treated with all the respect and consideration as if I were a visiting cousin. With reasonable rooms, excellent food and trustworthy staff that go above and beyond the expectations of a 5 star hotel Jasmine lodge receives my recommendation for any visitor in the Siem Reap area.

The Staff are fantastic, great English and really helpful. They have tons of services - bike hire, bus tickets, tuk-tuk hire for the day etc. The free breakfast was wonderful and saved 2 budget travellers a lot of money! Rooms were wonderful and when we turned up a day early by mistake they offered us a triple room for the night for the price of a double

Even though my trip to Siem Reap is only 4 days 3 nights, staying in Jasmine Lodge made us felt like home. Mr Kunn and his staff have been accomodative. He also shared his knowledge on the tourist attraction there, recommending to us where are the gd place to visit besides Angkor Wat. Thanks also to the tuk-tuk driver, Mr Chong, for driving us around and being so humble even though he is a man of a few words. I will definitely come back to Siem Reap and stay at Jasmine Lodge. Regards Sarina & Kelly (Singapore)

It is a really nice place with clean, large and cheap rooms. The restaurant is great with free access to the pool table. If you go, ask for Mr Smey the best tuk-tuk driver in town! We had an incredible time with him around Angkor!
